1. Overview
ComEC is an advanced energy controller designed to reduce and stabilize the voltage supplied to all electrical circuits. ComEC is installed after the main circuit breaker (MCB) and supplies all connected loads with voltage from the electrical distribution board.
ComEC stabilizes the voltage at the user-defined level (default value 213 V) and allows a maximum voltage reduction of 20 V from the mains voltage. The tolerance for voltage stabilization is approximately ± 2.5 V.
Voltage reduction and stabilization contribute to reduced energy consumption and energy savings. The level of savings depends on the type of load, mains voltage and operating mode of each device. ComEC automatically measures all electrical parameters and calculates savings values accordingly.
ComEC systems are available in the range from 3×80 A up to 3×320 A.

3. Guidelines for choosing a ComEC model
In a typical commercial installation, power consumption varies depending on which loads are active and their operating mode. For example, refrigeration or air conditioning systems draw high current in compressor operation but low current in standby mode.
Distribution boards and main circuit breakers (MCBs) are sized to handle these variations. Typically, MCBs are installed with approximately 50% reserve capacity. High currents (over 50% of the MCB size) usually occur for short periods of time.
The ComEC model (rated current) should be selected so that it matches the MCB size in the electrical switchboard where the ComEC is installed.
The maximum current per phase must not exceed the ComEC's rated current in amperes. ComEC operates continuously in SAVE mode when the actual current is up to 60% of the rated current and can handle temporary peaks up to the maximum level.
If the actual currents are very low, the ComEC size can be reduced for better utilization and cost-effectiveness. In such cases, the current per phase should not exceed 60% of the ComEC system's rated current.
If the ComEC model is lower than the plant's MCB, an incoming circuit breaker or MCB setting should be calibrated to the ComEC's rated current.
5. Operation and voltage control
5.1 Voltage control
ComEC enables voltage reduction up to 20 V and stabilizes the output voltage with a tolerance of ± 2.5 V. After initial activation, the voltage is reduced in steps of 2.5 V until the desired level is reached. ComEC continuously monitors electrical data on all three phases and adjusts the voltage according to a preset value (standard 213 V).
ComEC can operate in SAVE mode if the incoming voltage is higher than the level defined in BYPASS Voltage Gap (default 7 V). It is not recommended to install ComEC where the mains voltage is below 225 V.
5.2 Operating modes and monitoring
5.2.1 Normal mode
In normal mode, ComEC continuously delivers reduced and stabilized voltage to all connected loads. When first started, the voltage is gradually reduced to the desired level at a rate of 2.5 V/min. When increasing, this occurs by 2.5 V every ten seconds.
5.2.2 Astro Clock mode
The Astro Clock mode is used for installations with outdoor lighting, e.g. petrol stations or car parks. ComEC controls the lighting via an output signal from terminal 13 according to a programmed schedule. At start-up, ComEC first increases the output voltage before the Astro Clock signal is activated, and then returns to SAVE mode.
6. Settings for ComEC operation
6.1 Front panel

Recommended breaker size:
• 3 phase switch 3×100 A for BYPASS
• 3 phase circuit breaker 3×100 A for output, handles 3×35 kVA
The front panel is also used for programming ComEC.
