This fantastic and untouched Pantera GT5 from 1987 which has been presented in a 6-page report in Granturismo Magazine (see photos). It was one of the first GT5s in Sweden when the chairman of the De Tomaso club imported the car to Sweden as early as 1999.
The car is one of only 187 produced, this Pantera GT5-S is one of the few still original. This car has only 30000 verified km since new and has its matching 351 CI V-8 engine, ZF 5-speed manual transmission, power breaks and rack and pinion steering. The interior is in a nice finish in red with white with the rare original bucket seats, a fiberglass part wing and the lovely Campagnolo magnesium wheels 285/40 VR 15 front and impressive 345/35 VR 15 rear. The car looks like the previous GT5, "S" in GT5-S stands for steel, the previous cars use fiberglass panels.
Other equipment: AC, Org Gr 4 bucket seats, Alpine stereo. Wing.
Panteras has long inspired enthusiastic driving and with good reason, as their central engine placement, powerful powertrains, flat cornering ability and driving position ensure that the car not only runs fast and fast but does so with high stability and control. Mostly hand-built, the Panteras were designed by Ghia and originally imported by Ford, sold through Lincoln-Mercury dealers. An exotic answer to many sports cars from the era, Pantera provided a unique alternative to the Ford range and attracted an exclusive, young, richer clientele to Ford showrooms. As a replacement for DeTomaso Mangusta, Pantera was constructed with a Monocoque steel construction, the first time DeTomaso used this method.
Pantera debuted in Modena in 1970 and was presented at the New York Motor Show a few weeks later; the first production Panteras was sold about a year later with about three cars built per day. In 1975, Ford stopped importing the Pantera, but production continued. In 1984, the DeTomaso introduced the GT5-S with a wide body styling, better brakes, larger wheels and tires and an overall higher level of comfort, performance and exoticism.
