1959 Chevrolet Corvette Cabriolet
Here you have an awesome Corvette which is an old car exterior with a modern driveline. The car has a beautiful look with the light yellow & white paintwork together with the fantastic caramel-colored red interior with seats in genuine leather. One must not forget the eye-catching instrumentation.
In the driveline is a modern 350 crate engine with a Teremc TKO 600 manual gearbox with gearbox and a modern front trailer from Jim Meyer Racing. To this was added a rack and pinion steering with servo and disc brakes.
More technical information below.
The car is sold in Sweden and in very nice condition.
The car has a regular convertible top and a hardtop.
This is not an original car as it was apparently white from the beginning and now has replaced almost the entire driveline except the rear axle which has been renovated. Very nice along the way.
The car is sold as it is. No replaced original parts such as engine & gearbox, front trailer, etc. are left.
The current owner bought the car in 2012.
The previous owner is the one who has completely renovated the car and provided information below.
2002 The car was taken down and made ready for painting. Changed engine, gearbox and renovated rear axle.
The engine is a Crate engine of 350 cu. In. At 360 hp and bought from GM Performance Parts. Then the owner installed a new intake for dual four-door carburetors. The car had a 283 from the factory with a double four-door carburettor of 245 hp.
The gearbox that is now in is a 5-speed gearbox with overdrive. And Teremc TKO 600.
The rear axle renovation has been done as follows. New brakes, pinion, differential bearing, 3.70 gears were changed to a 3.55 to reduce engine noise. The rear axle was also equipped with an Eton lamellar differential brake.
The interior was replaced (It was red original) but in poor condition) The padding on the dashboard, the door sides were replaced equally original. The seats were upholstered in leather, the convertible top stand was renovated, as well as the hydro-electric up and down driving which was an option that not many Corvettes had. new carpet and new white hood were fitted. Most Corvettes from 1957 - 60 were red with a white side. The owner painted the car in Panama Yellow which was in 1958 but unfortunately not -59 The color is similar from Seat 2003.
The renovation took a few years and after driving two summers with a slow-moving car, the front trailer was replaced and a rack and pinion steering with servo and disc brakes was installed.
The front trailer is Jim Meyer Racing.
