The Fiat X1 / 9 has probably never been a mass car in Swedish folk homes, and unfortunately these open sports cars from Italy had a tendency to rust if they were not allowed to stand hot and dry. Whether this was the reason why only 400 cars were sold in Sweden between 1980 and 1984, or whether it was the missing space for three children, wife, dog and the weekly document, we can only speculate.
It is all the more fun then to be able to offer a Swedish-sold X1 / 9 from 1980 with the strong 1.5 liter engine of 85 horsepower and five-speed manual gearbox. The meter reading shows 8060 km, which is certainly true considering the condition of the body. Surprisingly, the body is as far as we have seen stainless steel. The edges of the screen are whole, the doors are nice, the strut towers are intact. The interior also looks nice, the ceiling is complete, no cracks in the instrument panel, the chairs which are in white leather have had daytime care since before the current owner acquired the car.
The current owner bought the car at a farm auction in 2013, the car was then parked indoors where it probably stood for a long time. The owner before had owned the car from 1989.
After the acquisition in 2013, the car fell into oblivion again at a lodge where it still stands today. The clutch and brake pedal sink to the bottom, if it is due to dried gaskets or if a replacement of the master brake cylinder is required is not checked. The generator has been removed and renovated but has not been installed after the renovation, but is included. When the car was set up, all electronics worked, this is not checked during the documentation.
Puncture or other leakage on the left front wheel. Need a new battery.
This "barn find" is judged by simple means to be a fun summer car that only increases in value.
